La Di Da

Location: 577 Little Bourke Street (near KKing St), Melbourne
Link: www.ladidapeople.com
Cuisine: Modern Australian, Bar

La Di Da: bar, restaurant, cocktail bar and champagne lounge. The interior is done up quite nicely, lots of reds, rich colours, and nice furniture. We were drawn by the interesting variety of dishes on the menu, as well as the $10 special (Mon-Wed lunch only) which included either a chicken parma or a pizza, and a drink. Arriving after class and well behind the others, Jenn ordered the lamb pizza for me.

Lamb Kebab Pizza: napoli sauce, red onions, sliced tomatoes, grilled lamb pieces, mozzarella cheese, garlic & lemon yoghurt, topped with fresh wild roquette

Firstly, the wait was unreasonably long. Given that the others had waited only a very short time for their food to arrive, the fact that my pizza took longer than half an hour was unacceptable. Oh well, the pizza eventually arrived, and was I disappointed? Pretty much.

Don't get me wrong, the pizza wasn't horrible or disgusting. It just did not taste much like pizza. The base was a little on the thick side, but it was thick and floury rather than thick and soft. There was ver little flavour - the lamb was nice, but it wasn't thinly sliced enough and there wasn't quite enough lamb to cover the pizza. The garlic and lemon yoghurt did not taste like I had expected, and found that it tasted somewhat watered down. It was a bit of a let down, especially after a 30 minute wait.

Overall Impression: 4/10
